Vacation job – work in Portugal

Vacation job – work for a permaculture project in Penamacor area Portugal. Parttime work (16 hours per week). You can choose which days you want to work and you can stay on the land if you want.

We have a job opening for vacation work during the months June-July-August. The job includes:

• clearing brambles and dead bushes
• clearing walking paths
• building a fence around the property
• watering plants and trees
• building platforms for tents

You can stay on the land in a tent and you can use our camper for transport, shopping and electricity supply. You need a driving license and must be in good physical shape. You must have a good sense of responsibility. We will give you an introduction on the land about our plans and the work to be done and we are available online afterwards if you have any questions. We can pay you €100 per 8 hour day.

In 2024, we purchased two adjacent plots of land near Penamacor in central Portugal. One part is open countryside with a small lake in the middle and around 70 mature olive trees (Lago). The other part consists of two-thirds wild forest with cork oaks and olive trees and one-third farmland (Floresta). In short, it is pure nature, and we want to keep it that way as much as possible.

We are developing the land at Florago according to the principles of permaculture and organic farming. So we work with nature instead of against it and do not use artificial fertilisers or pesticides. We are creating a varied food forest with fruit, nuts, berries and herbs. Every year, we plant around 200 trees and shrubs.
